Frequently Asked Questions — PIGMENT YELLOW 110

What specific shade advantage does Pigment Yellow 110 offer for coatings?

Pigment Yellow 110 (CAS 5590-18-1, C.I. 56280) provides a very reddish shade of yellow, distinguishing it from greener-shade diarylide yellows like PY83. This reddish hue enhances color space in industrial coatings, solvent-based paints, and coil coatings, enabling precise color matching in high-durability systems. Its excellent light fastness and weather resistance make it suitable for long-term outdoor applications, including auto paints and powder coatings.

How does HP Yellow 1346 perform in plastic masterbatch for high-heat engineering resins?

HP Yellow 1346 (Pigment Yellow 110) exhibits high heat stability up to 280°C, making it compatible with engineering plastics such as ABS, PC, POM, PA, PET, PBT, and PMMA. In rigid PVC it shows excellent durability without migration or plate-out. The pigment maintains color strength and shade consistency across injection molding and extrusion processes, particularly in polyolefins (PP, PE) and elastomers like TPV and TPU.

Can this pigment achieve high opacity in solvent-based printing inks without dispersion issues?

Yes. Pigment Yellow 110 demonstrates excellent dispersibility in offset inks, solvent-based inks, and water-based inks when formulated with appropriate resin systems. With a specific density of 1.4 g/cm³ and resistance to acid, it provides consistent color development and high opacity. Its chemical structure (C22H6Cl8N4O2) ensures strong solvent resistance and prevents recrystallization during storage, maintaining print quality in packaging and label applications.

What weathering performance does PY110 deliver compared to conventional yellows in powder coatings?

Pigment Yellow 110 offers outstanding light fastness (rated 7-8 on blue wool scale) and superior weather resistance in outdoor powder coatings, outperforming standard benzimidazolone yellows like PY151. In coil coatings and architectural finishes, it maintains >90% gloss retention after 1000 hours QUV testing. The pigment’s high heat stability (>200°C) ensures no shade shift during curing cycles up to 30 minutes at 200°C.

Why choose Pigment Yellow 110 for automotive OEM and refinish paint systems?

PY110’s combination of excellent weather fastness and chemical resistance meets automotive OEM requirements for exterior durability. In 2K polyurethane and acrylic enamel systems, it provides brilliant reddish-yellow shades with minimal fading after 2000 hours xenon-arc exposure. Its low oil absorption (35-45 g/100g) enables high pigment loading for deep color strength while maintaining flow and leveling in spray applications.
